Summer 2014 JULES meeting: Call for abstracts and registration

The next JULES meeting will be held on the 1st and 2nd July at Leicester University. We are aiming to have a slightly longer meeting this year, so we will be starting at 10:30 on the 1st and finishing at 16:00 on the 2nd.

We would also like this JULES meeting to be more like a conference, so this is a call for abstracts. Depending upon the number of abstracts submitted, we will sort out oral and poster sessions, but it would be useful if you can indicate your preference when you submit an abstract.

We will have sessions on each of the modules of JULES, so please let us know the session in which your abstract should be considered. These sessions will be:

  • Surface Exchange
  • Urban
  • Snow
  • Hydrology
  • Plant physiology
  • Vegetation dynamics (and fire)
  • Crop modelling
  • Soil carbon and nitrogen
  • Biogenic fluxes
  • Validation and calibration
  • Data assimilation
  • Technical developments
  • Climate impacts

There are a lot of sessions here, so we may not have oral presentations for all of them. It will depend upon the abstracts that are submitted.

To submit an abstract, please email it to Eddy Robertson (eddy.robertson@metoffice.gov.uk) who has kindly volunteered to collate them (thank you Eddy!). As well as the abstract text, please include the session to which you submitting.

Finally, as usual there will be a registration fee to cover the cost of lunches, tea/coffee, etc. To help organise this and determine what the cost will be, we need to know numbers for people attending. So we are now asking people to register for the meeting. You can do this simply by sending me an email (martin.best@metoffice.gov.uk) to let me know that you are coming. The deadline for registration is the end of May (30th). We will then let people know the cost of the registration as soon as we can after that date.

Extended abstract deadline: 16th May

Registration deadline: 30th May
